Just a few steps…

Sometimes all you need to do to get away from where you are right now is to simply take a few steps forward… so simple, it would seem, in theory . A few steps in front of you a door stands ajar… all you need to do is walk up to it and go through. A new life awaits on the other side of that door, but… as desirable and inviting as it may be, taking those few steps forward can be so very hard. Some days you take a step forward and then the next day you take two steps back. Story of your life.

You know where you want to be, you know how to get there, it’s right in front of you, just a few steps from here to there… what is it that keeps you from it? Attachment to the past? Fear of the unknown? Whatever it is, wouldn’t it be better than where you are right now? The past has flown by and you are unhappy where you stand… why are you so illogical in your actions? Maybe it is simply the despair that surrounds you thatΒ  also discourages you. How will you ever drag yourself out then and take those few steps?

Well but what if you did? What if you started again by taking that first step, only this time when it was time to take the next, you took that too.. and as unlike you as it was to do it, you took the next one as well! And soon you were very close and it wasn’t as hard as it was before. You could see through the slight opening of the door that what you wanted really is on the other side… so you move closer without fear. Now you’ve reached the door and you feel so much better and you believe in yourself again. Your spirit is restored as you push the door open with a smile on your face… You’re there!
